Friendly Skink

Usually, I am never able to get this close to a skink. They take off when I try to move in. This guy let me get closer and closer, at one point the camera was less than a foot from him. Canon 40D with the 100mm macro, plus my Manfrotto tripod.

Random Shots From An Early Spring

All of the above shot with a Canon 40D & a Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM lens. The lizard was shot handheld, all others were shot on a tripod.

If it's January...

Quince always puts a burst of spring into an otherwise drab and dreary winter. Water droplets by mother nature.

Last suntan before 2012

Canon 40D with a Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 maco lens, with tripod. 1/320th second at f/7.1, ISO 320.
I started out fairly far away hand holding the camera. Since it was a little chilly, he seemed content to sun himself and let me get closer and closer. I eventually grabbed the tripod and attached the camera and moved in real close. After about 10 minutes, he slowly turned around and walked away, never seeming the least bit uncomfortable with me being there.
